LEADERSHIP GOLDEN BELT IN PROGRESS
Leadership Golden Belt 2010 is currently underway with a great group. Leadership Golden Belt is a regional leadership training program aimed at creating a large pool of local leaders who are dedicated to making the Golden Belt a great place to live, work, and play. The program, now in its third year, is a joint effort between the Golden Belt Community Foundation and the Great Bend and Larned Chambers of Commerce, and utilizes a “grow your own” approach.
Leadership Golden Belt focuses on training local leaders through the combination of a skills-based curriculum and purpose oriented site visits. Class members are trained in 21st Century Leadership skills such as community visioning, group facilitation, learning styles, collaboration, consensus-building, and advocacy. In addition to the all day sessions, the class also partakes in community tours, each relating to an important community topic such as economic development, health care, and arts and culture. Throughout the sessions class participants meet in various locations throughout Stafford, Rush, Pawnee, and Barton counties, and will attend the 2010 KCLI Leadership Summit in Wichita on November 8 - 10. The Leadership Golden Belt program and the relationships the participants develop will provide the skills needed to enable working with others for addressing current issues and find opportunities for the future.
