GOLDEN BELT COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
ANNOUNCES GRANT AWARDS

The Golden Belt Community Foundation is pleased to announce two recent grant awards. The March grants, which total $929.99, were awarded to Claflin Elementary School and to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Barton and Pawnee Counties.

The GBCF accepts applications for grants throughout the year for its competitive grants process from charitable agencies and projects in Barton, Pawnee, Rush, and Stafford counties. Programs or projects must demonstrate need and show how the program will benefit the communities of the Golden Belt. Additionally, programs that establish new or foster existing collaborations among various groups or organizations are considered favorably. Charitable organizations with an idea, project, or need are encouraged to apply for funding.

The March grants are made possible by the Kansas Health Foundation Youth Endowment Fund.

$350.00 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Barton/Pawnee County to hold a speed matching event with bigs and littles. This event will be comparable to “Speed Dating”. There is an ever growing waiting list of children and never enough volunteers to match with them. This event will increase the recruitment efforts of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Barton and Pawnee Counties.

$579.99 Claflin Elementary School to purchase a digital camera with memory card and Interwrite pad. These tools will help to fulfill their goal of preparing students to meet the challenges of a changing world. Part of a changing world includes changes in technology. The Interwrite pad will assist the third grade teacher with presenting material and teaching cursive writing. The digital camera will be used to take photos for their monthly district wide newsletter and to help teachers with assignments and other projects.

At $6 million in total assets and over 90 endowment funds under management, the Golden Belt Community Foundation has been helping donors fulfill their charitable wishes since 1996. Over $1 million has been reinvested into the community in the form of grants since 2002.
